This website is an opportunity to inform students and future students of the opportunities associated with community-engaged learning (CEL).
North Central College identifies itself as “a community of learners dedicated to preparing students to be curious, engaged, ethical, and purposeful citizens and leaders in local, national and global contexts.” It further promises to “be a national model of transformative undergraduate education.” In order to fulfill this ambitious mission and vision, the College has dedicated itself to building a pathway for all students to experience High-Impact Practices (HIPs) each year of their study by intentionally embedding such practices into the curriculum.
In the combination of faculty, students, and the Office of Engaged Learning, North Central will achieve our goals for High-Impact Practices (HIPs). It is our hope that this toolkit and other resources and support provided by Engaged Learning will help make CEL more accessible, more feasible, and more rewarding for our students.
